When cold and tired is ‘normal’

When cold and tired are normal- when no shoes, no jacket and no bed are NORMAL, then you adapt and accept it. But when you can get to school because you’ve had a good sleep, can keep dry and warm and have some kai, life feels considerably better.

There is so much that many of us take for granted, and a bed, a pillow, shoes and socks, and a jacket don’t feel like luxuries. But to so many of our tamariki, these truly are luxuries. So every year since 2013 we’ve been collecting warm donations from the community and redistributing them to our most vulnerable taitamariki (children and young people) across Te Tai Tokerau. This is our annual KEEP OUR KIDS WARM project.

Our partner project: COATS 4KIDS: Auckland to Northland – sees warmth collected by Auckland schools and brought up here to Northland. If you know any school that would like to get involved, please contact us

See the rangatahi at Takapuna Grammar filling up our van here.

You can make a difference too:  sponsor a child and keep them warm
