They said spices and garlic and nappies.
They said water and bedding.
They said gumboots and socks.
We wanted to know what the communities really needed and wanted. So we asked. And they said.
So that’s what they got.
Hundreds of you donated clothing, bedding, and even beautiful new handcrafted quilts. When we asked for gumboots and shoes, we got them!
The Warehouse Waipapa gave us pallets of goodies and ordered in the water and baby items that had been requested. Funding from @community_matters_dia helped us with the shopping and volunteer support.
Our amazing sponsors at Kainui Pack & Cool made a whole warehouse free for us, with staff helping to sort, stack and move tonnes of goods.
ETBH Exclusive Haulage was simply extraordinary and hauled 12 tonne down to Tairāwhiti while roads were still impassable and detours massive.
Then our local volunteers jumped in again and we packed again and headed over to the Hokianga where we met with our special friends at Motuti and community leaders from Pawarenga and South Hokianga.
So many individuals made it happen and we just can’t name everyone. But this @nzeroftheyear Community Of The Year Award belongs to you all.
