Keep our Kids Warm- 2024

You wouldn't like to be cold ... so why should they

You wouldn’t like to be cold … so why should they?

This is the simple patai (question) tamariki asked their peers. And it’s a good one. Last year we delivered over 9000 warm parcels across Te Tai Tokerau-Far North for children living in sub-standard conditions.

Jimmy lives in a remote spot and needs to walk 1 km to the bus up a dirt road. Arriving at school wet and cold won’t work, so yes, a coat, socks & gumboots make a difference to learning and socialising.

Warm PJs and blankets mean Shazzi and her siblings get a better rest, even though they all share mattresses on the floor. Pillows are like gold, so any new pillows are really appreciated too.

Tipene can play rugby with his mates and have a warm, dry jacket and boots for the sidelines. Now he fits in and looks like his friends, instead of being excluded form healthy sport and socialising.

It’s always much, much more than the clothing. It’s the opportunity to live a ‘normal’ healthy life.

Thank you!!
