Community Garden
(Te Roopu Huarahi Oranga)

This Angel project was a stepping stone to building strong relationships within our rohe (district). Generously granted a land loan by a local businessman, we grew organically for 4 years sharing tonnes of fresh produce via our partners to families in need.

We also shared our produce with Kindergartens and Foodbanks, and welcomed school groups and clubs to experience edible gardening with us. We shared plants with school garden projects, and enjoyed generous local sponsorship of seedlings and organic fertilisers.

A joint project with Northland Corrections (Angel-Mates project) helped to develop our KaiEasy project, with fencing, gates, shed and the help of inmates and Corrections officers.

The Gardens were closed in 2019 and all the fittings, equipment, seeds and plants donated to Te Runanga o Ngāpuhi for a new Community Garden to serve the people of Kaikohe.
